Subclass 189 – Skilled Independent Visa
There are two streams to this visa; points tested stream and New Zealand stream. Both visas require the applicant to be under 45.
The New Zealand streams – This visa allows New Zealanders who have contributed to our country the chance to live here as permanent residents. The main requirements are that the applicant has satisfied a taxable income for 4 years and has been a resident in Australia for 5 years.
The Points Tested Stream – This visa allows highly skilled workers to move or stay in Australia as permanent residents. Only particular occupations on the medium and long-term strategic list will be eligible. This visa does not require any sponsorship. It is a 3 step process.

2. Lodge a expression of interest
3. Lodge a visa application (once invited)

Subclass 190 – Skilled Nominated Visa
This visa allows skilled people to migrate to Australia. They must be sponsored by a state and be under the age of 45. There are specific occupations that are eligible and all states have different lists and further criteria to be met. There are 3 steps in gaining a subclass 190;

2. Lodge an expression of interest
3. Lodge a visa application (once invited)

Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa – Subclass 491
This visa was introduced in September 2019. It was implemented to assist in building up the workforce in regional areas of Australia. This is a temporary visa, with a duration of 5 years. If you fulfill certain requirements there is a pathway to permanent residency. The primary applicant must be sponsored by either a state or a family member living in a regional area. The applicant must be under the age of 45. There are only certain occupations eligible and all states have their own occupation lists and further requirements for the applicant to meet.

Temporary Graduate – Subclass 485
This visa is for international students that have recently completed at least 2 years of study in Australia. There are two streams included in this subclass; Graduate work stream and post-study work stream.
The post-study work stream is for applicants that have studied a bachelor degree or higher. Applicants must pass an English test (unless exempt).
The graduate work stream is available for applicants that can not satisfy the post-study work stream. Their occupations must be included on the specific occupation list. All applicants require a subclass 485 skills assessment. Applicants must pass an English test (unless exempt).
