Temporary Shortage Visa – Subclass 482

To satisfy the criteria for a subclass 482 visa you need to be sponsored by an eligible employer. It allows you to stay in Australia temporarily for 2 to 4 years. This visa was implemented in 2018 to address the labour shortages in Australia. There are specific occupations that are eligible for this visa and they are categorized into two streams; short term and medium to long term. You need 2 years of work experience. You may also need to be successful in a skills assessment and English test depending on the issuing country on your passport and occupation. Employer Nomination Scheme – Subclass 186

The purpose of this visa is for employers to find highly skilled applicants who can fill positions that are in high demand in Australia. This is a permanent visa. To be eligible for this visa your occupation must be included on the Medium and Long-Term strategic list. You need to be nominated by an eligible business. There are two streams; TRT – for applicants holding a subclass 482 visa and direct entry stream for all other applicants. Both streams require that the applicant has not turned 45 years old and can pass an English test (unless exempt). It requires 3 years work experience and a full skills assessment. Skilled Employment Sponsored Regional (Provisional) Visa – Subclass 494

This is a temporary visa that allows an eligible regional business to sponsor and nominate a skilled person who’s occupation is in high demand in Australia. The duration of this visa is 5 years. If specific requirements are met there is a pathway to permanent residency. Occupations must be included in the occupation list. You must be under the age of 45 with 3 years of work experience.
